Clinical Decision Criteria

InterQual® may be used during the prior authorization process to help decide if a service or level of care is needed for health reasons. If the guidelines show that the request is needed, it is approved. If not, the request goes to a doctor or another qualified healthcare professional, as required by Medicare.
